Description

Jesmond House is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed of tooled dressed sandstone with a stone-flagged roof and stone chimney stacks. Originally designed with a gable-entry plan, the house is two storeys high and has three wide bays. Flush quoins are present. The central doorway is within a 19th-century opening featuring a canted bay window to the left and a replaced two-pane sash window in the original opening to the right. Above, the central and right windows have replaced two-pane sashes but retain their original surrounds. The roof has coped gables, shaped kneelers, and end and ridge stacks with top ledges and water tables. A blocked doorway and a fixed six-pane fire window are visible on the right return. A continuous, narrow, two-storey rear outshut extends to the rear. Buildings attached to the left return are not of special interest.
