Description
The Shieling is a house from the early 19th century, constructed of squared sandstone with a stone-flagged roof and stone chimneys. It has two storeys and five bays. The front features a flat-roofed solid stone porch with a replaced door located in the second bay. On the ground floor, there are three 16-pane sash windows, each with flush tooled-and-margined lintels and projecting sills. The upper floor has four identical windows. The roof has a coped left gable and includes a left end stack and two ridge stacks, each with top bands and water tables. An attached gateshouse to the right is not of special interest.
