Description

Inglenook and Jesmond Cottage are a pair of houses dating to 1734, with later alterations. They are constructed of dressed sandstone to the front, with rubble returns and rear, and have a stone-flagged roof. Chimney stacks are of stone and brick.

Each house is two storeys high, with three windows each. Inglenook is positioned to the left. Flush quoins are present.

Inglenook has a central, partly-glazed, six-panel door set within an architrave with a hood supported by consoles. To the left is a blocked fire window, and to the right, a replaced 16-pane fixed light. Above the door is a central 12-pane sash, linked to the doorway below by vertical strips, with a 16-pane sash to the left and a blocked window to the right.

Jesmond Cottage features a central six-panel door within an architrave incorporating a frieze and cornice. The frieze bears the inscription "William Waite 1734 fecit". The windows are set within architraves. The ground floor has replaced four-pane sashes, alongside a blocked fire window to the left and a narrow two-pane sash above the door.

The roof is continuous, with coped gables and shaped kneelers. There is a corniced ridge, and stacks at the right end. The left-end stack has been rebuilt, with a rebuilt brick top.
