Description
Greencroft is a house dated 1695, as indicated on the lintel of the doorway, with a likely early 18th century cross wing to the right. The building is constructed from rendered and painted sandstone rubble and features a moderately-pitched pantiled roof with one rebuilt brick ridge stack. It has a T-plan layout, consisting of a 2-storey, 2-bay section and a single-bay cross wing that projects to the front and rear.
The left bay includes hoodmoulds over the ground and first floor windows. The doorway in the second bay, which is also under a hoodmould, has alternating jambs with chamfered and moulded arrises that feature run-out stops. The monolithic lintel above the door is inscribed with the date 1695 and the initials I.P., and there is a replaced 6-panel door below it. Above the doorway is a small 4-pane sash window, while the late 19th and 20th century additions include casement windows. The cross wing has two 20th century casements with raised sills and wedge lintels, and it features a rounded corner on the right return. The roof is adorned with moulded gable copings and shaped kneelers. Inside, the modernised interior retains a double-flight dogleg staircase made of stone.
