Description
The Old Granary is a building originally constructed as a farmhouse, later used as a granary, and now converted into a house. It dates from the late 16th century to early 17th century and has undergone alterations, with a major restoration completed in 1984-1985. The structure is built of coursed rubble and features replaced pantiles with artificial stone flagged eaves, as well as rebuilt stone chimney stacks.
It is two storeys high and has four bays. The third bay contains a replaced six-panel door set in a rebuilt solid gabled porch. To the left, there are a pair of garage doors. The building has replaced sash windows with renewed stone lintels and projecting sills. The steeply-pitched roof has replaced gable copings and kneelers, with chimney stacks at both ends.
On the left side, there is a two-storey gabled rear wing. The modernised interior includes a wide segmental stone fire-arch on the right end wall. There are late 20th-century rear outshuts and additions on the right return, which are not considered of special interest.
