Description
Killerby Grange is a house dating from around 1800. It features a dressed sandstone front with rubble on the sides and rear, and has a roof covered in Welsh slates at the front and pantiles at the back, along with stone chimney stacks. The wing is made of squared rubble and has a pantiled roof with flagged eaves and a brick chimney stack. The main house, which has a wing set back to the left, is two stories high and has three bays, a low plinth, and flush quoins. There are two steps leading up to a central six-panel door with a patterned fanlight, all set within an open-pedimented doorcase that has reeded pilasters. The windows are 16-pane sashes set in raised tooled surrounds with projecting chamfered sills. The roof features coped gables and shaped kneelers, with corniced end stacks. The two-bay wing has three low storeys and two replaced casement windows, with a roof that has a raised left verge and a rebuilt left end stack. At the rear, the house has two doorways, with a re-set door lintel to the right inscribed "CH 1683," and a round-arched stair window with a radial head. The wing contains several 18-pane horizontal-sliding sashes. Inside, there are several six-panel doors in reeded surrounds with angle paterae, and a two-flight cut-string dogleg staircase with a wreathed and ramped handrail on stick balusters. A lean-to garage from the 20th century on the right is not of special interest.
