Description

Dennington Barton is a farmhouse with an attached granary, dating from the 19th century, although it may contain earlier elements. The building is constructed from coursed stone rubble and features slate roofs with gable ends and two axial brick stacks. It is built into a bank and has a long range that is single room deep, with the granary located at the left end. The structure is two storeys tall and has a total of ten windows.

The ground floor openings are adorned with dressed stone arches. There are external stone steps with slate treads leading to the granary at the left end, which has boarded openings with two lights. Above this, there is a similar opening on the left end and a six-pane fixed light to the right of a plank door. To the left of the steps, there is a four-paned half-glazed door and a two-light window with three panes per light to the right.

The central four bays are flanked by pilaster strips and feature hornless sash windows, all with six panes over six, except for the window above the doorway, which has 16 panes. The ground floor has twelve-paned sashes and a wide doorway with a two-panelled door and a twelve-paned overlight. A datestone from 1847 is located above and to the left of the doorway. The right side of the building has a range of four windows, consisting of two- and three-light casements, each with eight panes, except for one replacement. There is also a four-paned overlight above a plank door. The interior has not been inspected. It is noted that the house was converted from farm buildings in 1847, as indicated by the datestone.
