Description
The Swimbridge War Memorial is a First World War memorial that includes later additions for the Second World War. It is constructed of granite and features a plain obelisk on a moulded capital, which stands above a substantial square tapered plinth and a two-stepped base. The memorial is enclosed by a square formation of eight granite posts connected by chains.
The main inscription is located on the south face and reads: "TO THE GLORIOUS DEAD" followed by seven names. The west face also lists seven names, while the north face is inscribed with the years "1914" and "1919." The east face contains another seven names. Additionally, there is a rectangular plaque attached to the north face of the plinth that commemorates the Second World War with the years "1939" and "1945," followed by five names.
