Description
Swimbridge Primary School and school house is a building from 1866, with an extension added in 1926. It is constructed of snecked stone rubble, featuring chromatic brick and stone dressings, and has a slate roof with decorative patterning and crested ridge tiles. The building includes an axial brick stack. The original 1866 school room is located in the center, with the school house on the right and a 1926 wing extending at right angles to the main range on the left.
The central range has four gabled half dormers, each with pointed arched openings. A datestone from 1866 is positioned at the center. To the left end, there is a pointed arched doorway with a double-leaf plank door. The 1926 wing features a large tripartite window with a pointed arched center light, above which is a datestone from 1926. The school house on the right end has twin gables at the front, each containing straight-headed transomed windows with two light casements, three panes per light, in pointed arched openings. These flank a recessed pointed arched doorway with a six-panelled door, where the middle panels are glazed.
