Description

The Shenstone War Memorial is a First World War memorial, erected around 1919, with additions for the Second World War. It is made of rock-faced granite and has a square plan.

The memorial faces south-west and features a plain obelisk on a single-step base made of late 20th-century block paving with sandstone kerb stones. The base supports a two-step plinth, which holds a pedestal that tapers in square section to a moulded capstone. The south-west face of the pedestal displays a bronze plaque dedicated to the First World War, inscribed with the words: 'OUR GLORIOUS DEAD / 1914-1919 / [names].'

On top of the capstone stands a tall shaft that tapers in square section to a pyramidal top. The south-west face of the shaft features a bronze laurel wreath in relief, below which is a bronze plaque dedicated to the Second World War, inscribed with: 'OUR GLORIOUS / DEAD / 1939-1945 / [names].'
