Description
Nos. 36 and 38 on Main Street are cottages dating from the 17th century, with an early 19th-century addition. The front is made of red brick, while the rear features a timber frame with brick infill panels and a tiled roof. The building has ridge stacks and a cranked plan, with the rear range set diagonally from the road. The street-facing side has a two-storey gable, with 20th-century casements in the centre of the first floor and at the left end of the ground floor. There is an additional casement in a lean-to on the right, which includes a later entrance with a 20th-century door. The rear range is single storey with a gabled dormer-lit attic, and the timber frame consists of approximately two bays with three tiers of square panels and diagonal braces under the wall plate.
