Description

This is an 18th-century milestone located approximately 10 metres north of No. 34 South Green in Staindrop. It is made of painted stone and has a flat-topped square section, standing about 0.5 metres high. The milestone is set diagonally to the road, with "BOWES 10" painted on the east face and "DURHAM 19" on the west face.
