Description

Woodcrest is a late 18th and early 19th century house located on the south side of South Green in Staindrop. The house is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings and a plinth, topped with a Welsh slate roof. It has a chimney raised in brick with banded ashlar. The house is two storeys high and has two bays. The right-hand side of the front features a six-panel door with an overlight, set within a plain stone surround. Matching surrounds are present to the first-floor sash windows. A corniced canted bay window is located on the left-hand side with a plinth and projecting stone sill. Late 19th century sashes are present in the bay window. Some glazing bars have been removed from the sashes on the first floor, giving them a late 19th century appearance.
