Description

This is an early 19th-century house and shop, now used as a house. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings, some of which are painted, and quoins. The roof is of graduated Lakeland slates with stone gable copings. The building is two storeys high and has three bays. The central entrance has a renewed round-headed surround with impost blocks. Large bow windows flank the entrance, featuring curved glass in segmental-headed sashes with projecting sills and scroll-bracketed moulded cornices. The first floor has plain sash windows with projecting stone sills and keyed voussoirs. The low-pitched roof has a left-hand gable with curved kneelers, a corniced chimney, a blocking course with an arched front, and a tall chimney pot on a plinth.
