Description

Westfield House is a mid-18th century house situated on the north side of North Green in Staindrop. The house is constructed of pecked coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings, a plinth, and chamfered quoins. It has a roof of graduated Lakeland slate with stone gable copings. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. A set of nosed steps lead to a central six-panel door, partly glazed and set within an architrave, topped with a pulvinated frieze and cornice. Late 19th century sash windows are set in architraves with projecting stone sills. Chamfered quoins define the flat-coped parapet. A moulded hopper head is located below the parapet, to the right of the second window. The roof features corniced ashlar chimneys at each end. The house was empty at the time of survey.
