Description
Raby House is a house built in the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed from tooled coursed squared sandstone and features a plinth, chamfered quoins, and ashlar dressings. The roof is made of graduated Lakeland slate, with stone gable copings and both stone and brick chimneys. The building has two storeys and three bays. There are steps leading up to a central six-panel door with a patterned fanlight, which is flanked by three-quarter pilasters that support an open pediment on an entablature. The plain stone surrounds frame the plain sash windows. A corniced parapet tops the structure, and the roof features banded chimneys, with a brick chimney on the left and a stone chimney on the right. There is a wrought-iron foot scraper on the step leading to the door.
