Description
North Green is a house that once served as a shop, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed from roughly coursed and squared sandstone with ashlar dressings, some of which are painted. The roof is covered with concrete tiles and features stone gable copings along with stone and brick chimneys. The building has two storeys and four bays.
In the second bay, there is a renewed door with a painted tooled architrave and an overlight above it. A similar door and overlight have been inserted between the third and fourth bays. On the ground floor, there are three canted bay windows that project slightly, each with stone sills, cornices, and flat tops. Above, there are four plain renewed sash windows; three of these are set in plain stone surrounds with painted sills and lintels, while the fourth has a painted flat stone lintel and a projecting stone sill.
The steeply-pitched roof has swept eaves and features a left end gable coping on a moulded kneeler. There is a corniced ashlar chimney on a plinth at the left side, and a banded brick chimney is located to the right of the second bay. The building is included for its group value.
