Description

Ormulz House is a late 18th-century house with a late 19th-century shop incorporated. It is constructed of pecked coursed squared sandstone with a plinth, chamfered quoins and ashlar dressings, and has a Welsh slate roof with stone gable copings and stone ridge tiles. The building is two storeys high and originally three bays wide, the third bay being wider. A flight of steps leads to the central door, which has six shaped panels and a patterned fanlight, set within a doorcase of pilasters and a continuous string course running under the fanlight, topped by an open pediment with paterae. Flanking the central door are round-sided bow windows with curved glass, pilasters, cornices and flat tops, and plain stone surrounds. The first-floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars, and have projecting stone sills. The low-pitched roof features long moulded kneelers with plain coping, and banded end chimneys.
