Description
The Caretaker's flat and stable, with entrance gate piers, dates from around 1771. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with quoins and English garden wall bond brick featuring ashlar dressings. The roofs are covered with Welsh slate and pantiles, and have stone gable coping. The south elevation facing the gateway has a boarded door on the right within a plain stone surround, and an oriel window above and to the left, supported on stone brackets, which contains late 19th century sash windows. The low-pitched roof, hipped on the left, has stone coping and a tall brick chimney with banding at the right end. The left side of the building features stone steps leading to a boarded door on the first floor, set against a brick wall. At the rear, there is a pent addition made of rubble.
There are two square piers, one located adjacent to the ground floor of the building, which form the entrance to No. 20. These piers have slightly overhanging pyramidal coping. The entrance has renewed boarded gates that include rear iron stays with a twisted central section.
