Description
No. 27 North Green is a house dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of irregularly coursed and squared sandstone, with a rubble right return, and features quoins and ashlar dressings. The roof is covered with concrete tiles and has stone gable copings, along with ashlar and brick chimneys. The building has three storeys and two bays.
The entry door, located at the extreme left, has a flat stone lintel and irregular block jambs. To the right of the first bay, there is a similar lintel over a flushed door. The ground floor features a canted bay window with late 19th-century sashes, a dentilled cornice, and a flat top. Above this, there are paired plain sashes with a flat stone lintel and a projecting stone sill. The late 19th-century sash above the entry door also has a similar lintel and flat sill. On the second floor, there are three smaller windows; the outer ones are blocked, while the central window has a 4-pane fixed light, all set in plain stone surrounds.
The steeply-pitched roof has moulded coping with wide kneelers, a corniced square chimney on the left end, and a banded yellow brick chimney on the right. The right return features a small 4-pane fixed light to the left of the probable position of a fireplace. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
