Description

The walls and piers to the south and east of No. 21 are dated 1781 and enclose the garden area in front of the house. The dwarf walls are made of coursed squared sandstone, while the garden wall is constructed from rubble, both featuring ashlar copings and piers. The dwarf walls have chamfered coping and are interrupted by a renewed central gate. At each outer end, there are square piers with chamfered rustication and pyramidal coping; the left pier is inscribed with "RCJ," and the right pier is marked "1781." There is a higher wall with flat stone coping situated between the house and the right pier. The rubble garden wall also has flat stone coping.
