Description
This is a milestone located approximately 150 metres west of Streatlam Castle South Lodges, dating from the late 18th century. It is made of painted ashlar and has a square-section, flat-topped design, standing about 0.5 metres high and set diagonally to the road. The east side of the milestone features the painted and incised inscription "BOWES 7," while the west side displays "DURHAM 22." Additionally, the rear faces have large incised numbers "22" and "7."
