Description
Friars' Cote Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble with large quoins and ashlar dressings. The roofs are stone-flagged on the left wing and covered with synthetic stone on the main building, featuring stone gable coping and stone and brick chimneys.
The main house is two storeys high with three bays, while the long set-back left wing is also two storeys but has four irregular bays. The main house features plain stone surrounds to a renewed central door with a small overlight, as well as renewed 20-pane sashes in the outer bays and a 16-pane sash above the door. The roof has moulded kneelers and end banded chimneys. The left wing displays varied irregular fenestration, primarily consisting of 12-pane sashes, and is flanked by two large triangular buttresses on the second bay, along with a square ridge chimney.
Inside, there are some two-panel doors with L hinges, a very thick cross wall to the right of the central passage, and a salt cupboard in the front wall of the right ground-floor room.
