Description

Langley Viaduct is a viaduct built around 1863 for the North Eastern Railway Company. It is constructed from rock-faced snecked sandstone and yellow brick, featuring iron railings. The structure has eleven round-headed arches made of three courses of bricks, supported by tapered piers with projecting stones at irregular intervals. The cornice and blocking course project forward to create low rectangular end piers, and there are plain iron railings along the top. Round iron tie-ends are also present. The viaduct occupies a prominent position in the landscape and is partly located in the Marwood civil parish.
