Description
E. Griffiths, Family Grocer is a mid-19th century terraced building featuring a later 19th-century shop front. It is two stories high with two windows, constructed of roughcast on rubble. The roof is moderately pitched and covered with slate, with plain eaves.
On the first floor, there is a six-paned sash window to the right and an improvised window to the left, both with cement architraves. The ground floor boasts a well-preserved late 19th-century shop front, which includes reeded end pilasters and brackets that support corniced fascia ends. The fascia is moulded and retains its original blind box above.
The entrance is canted and features two-thirds glazed double doors with a rectangular fanlight above. The shop windows have moulded mullions, with small panes in the upper portions and arched glazing bars at the tops of the main windows. The stallrisers are tiled.
Inside, the shop retains its original panelled long counter on the right, accompanied by contemporary glass confectionery cabinets.
