Description
23 Green Street is an early to mid-19th century, three-storey commercial building. It features a two-window elevation facing Green Street and a longer seven-window front on Queen Street. The building has a hipped slate roof, a plain eaves band, and a rendered stack.
On the second floor, there are nine-pane sash windows with margins and stone sills. The first floor has similar 15-pane sash windows. The ground floor has a modern shop front that extends around the corner to Queen Street, with retained consoles.
The broad six-window elevation on Queen Street has fenestration similar to the front. There is a blind bay on the extreme right, which previously had dummy windows and plain pilasters. A sill band runs along the first floor. The fourth bay from the left features a canted oriel (undergoing repair in December 1988) with sash windows and a corniced top over a blocked doorway, while the left side has blocked window flanks and a modern window on the right. The extreme left has a modernised shop front.
