Description
The National Westminster Bank is a two-storey building featuring a convex seven-bay front. It has a balustraded parapet and a moulded cornice. The first-floor bays are adorned with panelled pilasters, which are broader at the outer ends. The windows are small-paned, two-light casements with moulded architraves and stressed keystones.
The ground floor showcases a deep entablature, decorated with disc metopes and triglyphs that include guttae in the frieze. There is a modern fascia at the centre. The ground floor bays are supported by Doric columns on bases, with additional pilasters featuring similar designs at the outer corners. Low railings span across the bays.
Tall round-arched windows with moulded arches and impost blocks are present, and the keystones serve as consoles for the entablature. The glazing is small-paned and includes fanlights. The central doorway exhibits similar detailing, featuring a blind tympanum with foliate carving, a moulded architrave, and panelled double doors. There is an additional doorway beneath a fanlight to the left-hand bay.
