Description
The Former Hope Chapel is a building constructed from blue lias rubble stone and features a slate roof that is half-hipped at the south end. The west side wall includes two windows: a long 12-pane sash window on the left with a timber lintel, and an off-centre 6-pane window, which was originally a 12-pane sash, featuring painted stone voussoirs. The lower half of this window has been altered for workshop entry, now fitted with a large timber lintel and later infill that includes double doors. To the right of this entry, there is an ornate wrought iron gate attached to the wall. Additionally, there is a blocked door on the left side, adjacent to the rear wing of No 40 St Mary's Street.
On the south end wall, there is a lean-to structure on the ground floor, while the first floor features a 12-pane sash window with a red-brick cambered head. A plaque to the left reads 'Hope Chapel 1837'. The rear of the building has one window with a brick head and another with a timber lintel.
