Description

The Farm Range at Fach Uchaf is a Grade II listed building consisting of two parallel structures. The main range is a long lofted building that likely served as a cow-house and stable, with a former haybarn attached to the rear. The walls are constructed from random rubble in large blocks, topped with a corrugated steel sheet roof on the main range and a black painted corrugated steel roof on the haybarn.

The main range features a probable former stable on the right side, with a doorway flanked by small timber-framed windows, all having timber lintels. There is a central doorway also with a timber lintel. The left section has a similar doorway to the left with a slate lintel, a horizontal 8-light window with a modern metal frame inserted into a slightly larger original opening with a timber lintel, and another doorway with a timber lintel. Two loft windows are positioned just below the roof. The left gable end has a central doorway with a slate lintel, a small window alongside, and a small vent at the gable apex, both of which are blocked with perspex, along with a uPVC downpipe for drainage. The east gable features an upper opening with a wood lintel and a wood-framed window, while the lower opening is blocked with rubble. On the north side, there is a window to the left with a wood lintel and uPVC rainwater goods.

The former haybarn is attached to the rear of the main range and originally had three open bays on its long north elevation. It is now clad in black painted corrugated steel, with a modern steel plate at the base. The west gable end is made of stone with a corrugated steel-clad apex, while the left side of the main range shows repairs in breeze block, render, and concrete, along with a uPVC downpipe. The east gable end is partly stone but has corrugated sheet covering a former open bay, secured in place, and features timber boarding with a small loft door at the gable apex. The building has not been inspected.
