Description
The farm ranges at Cwm Dylluan consist of two adjoining structures at right angles that enclose the farmyard.
The western range is a three-door cow-house with a cart-bay to the left. It features half-timbering on the front and north end, while the rear and south end are constructed of stone, all beneath a slate roof. The cow-house has planked doors in the center and to the right, with the left doorway replaced by a wide opening. The area between the doors has been rebuilt using breeze blocks, topped with weather-boarding over timber-framing. There is a ventilated loft, with the top tier consisting of box panels and attached timber louvres. The cart-bay is separated by a stone pier with brick quoins, and the loft above is weather-boarded, featuring a small two-light casement window and a planked loft hatch to its left. The north gable end is box-panelled, although much of the weather-boarding is missing. It includes a tie-beam truss with a collar and diagonal struts. Beneath the gable is a large 20th-century breeze block lean-to with a corrugated iron roof that extends towards the east. The rear western side of this range is built into the hillside and constructed from large blocks of random stone. There is a ledge near the top, possibly the wall-plate of an earlier building, above which are ventilation slits. The south gable end features a loft door with a segmental brick head.
The southern range is made of shaley rubble stone on footings of large blocks of random stone, also under a slate roof. The front of the barn has split doors leading to a through-passage, just above which is a planked loft hatch. There are two additional loft hatch openings towards the left, which no longer have doors, and two ventilation slits below. To the right end is a wide opening to a cart-bay, with a loft above that contains a part-glazed window. The left end has split doors leading to a stable, which is topped by a segmental brick head. The stable is illuminated by a two-light casement window with a segmental head, positioned to the right of the east gable end, with a small light to its left. The rear of this range is built into the bank, featuring split doors at the back of the through-passage, flanked by ventilation slits.
The interior has not been seen.
