Description
The Village Institute is a single-storey building with a main range flanked by two outer gabled wings that project towards the front. It features weatherboarding on a brick plinth and is topped with a corrugated steel roof. The main range has a truncated lateral brick stack at its center, which is topped by a steel cupola at the ridge and has a triangular pediment beneath the eaves. Architectural details include moulded boarded eaves, with the gable eaves projecting and supported by brackets.
The windows are moulded wooden small-pane designs, either single-lights with transoms or cross-windows. The entrance is located at the gable end of the left wing, featuring a moulded wooden door case with a cornice supported by scrolled brackets. Below the cornice is a sign that reads 'Village Institute'. The entrance has inset half-glazed panelled double doors with an overlight, and the reveals are boarded and canted, with a quarry tile floor. There are single-light windows on either side of the entrance.
On the left return of the wing, there is a large 9-pane window, and to the right of this is a shallow lean-to with small lights, likely added in the late 20th century. The main range has two cross-windows to the left of the stack and one cross-window along with two single lights to the right. The right wing has a half-glazed panelled door on the left return and a cross-window flanked by side lights at the gable end. There is also a small gabled block against the right return. The rear wall appears to have been rebuilt in red brick, although the details were not observed. The interior has not been seen.
