Description

Siop Llyfr is a two-storey, long, three-unit building with a taller flat-roofed projection added to the front of the left unit, which now serves as the entrance. There is a rear wing behind the right-hand unit. The main range features lined-out render over timber-framing, set on a plinth, and has a slate roof that is hipped to the left end, with a brick ridge stack positioned to the right of the center. The projecting bay on the left is rendered and has coped parapets above a saw-tooth brick cornice. This bay includes a boarded door on the right and a fixed 16-pane window on the left, with a small-pane top-hung window directly above it on the upper storey. The main range to the right has two windows, featuring a three-light wooden casement on the left and a plain-glazed window on the right. The upper storey has small-pane top-hung windows just below the eaves, along with skylights on the right roof pitch. There are no openings on the west gable end. The lower two-storey rear wing is rendered and has an entrance on the west side, which includes an old boarded door on the left within a half-glazed wooden lean-to porch. To the right, there are small-pane top-hung windows on each storey, and the gable end is made of brick.

Inside, the building features a ceiling with 17th-century details, including medium-chamfered spine beams with ogee stops and some chamfered joists that have decorative stops. There have been some alterations and patching to the ceiling, and while the fireplace remains, it is currently blocked.
