Description

Fronwen Uchaf is a two-storey building dating from the 19th century, featuring a whitewashed roughcast exterior and a slate roof. It has a timber modillion eaves cornice and stone end stacks, which are larger on the right side. The front facade consists of a long three-window range, with small 4-pane sash windows on the upper floor. The ground floor includes a canted bay window on the left, a central half-glazed door with a radiating-bar fanlight, and a 20th-century 16-pane window on the right, which has replaced a sash window. The left end wall has a 9-pane window on the left and a 4-pane window on the first floor.

Attached to the right is a lower two-storey service range, which has a hipped roof to the right and a very large stone end stack. Above this range are a pair of casement windows, with a long 20th-century window below. There is also a 20th-century hipped addition on the end wall. At the rear, there is a rubble stone hipped two-storey outshut with a gabled centre stair tower that features a 20th-century window. A 20th-century added block obscures the centre and right of the outshut.

Inside, the ground floor right room has a heavy fireplace beam and one ceiling beam, along with 6-panel doors. The entrance hall features a fluted ceiling border and a panelled shallow arch. The left room has a moulded ceiling border adorned with lion masks. The dog-leg stairs consist of four flights, with stick balusters and turned newels. The first floor has 6-panel doors and reeded ceiling borders in the bedrooms. Above the stair head is a plaster three-sided roof with a small plaster rose. The building has oak collar trusses with scarfed feet supporting a six-bay roof.
