Description
5 and 5A Castle Street is a symmetrical, two-storey building with a five-window range, dating from the early 20th century. The front is lined with stucco and features a slate roof with brick stacks at each end. A central full-height gabled porch is supported by two Roman Doric columns and is jettied out. The porch includes a moulded doorcase from around 1900, which holds a half-glazed panelled door. Above the entrance, there is a window band that consists of two margin-glazed windows facing the front. The windows flanking the porch are 12-pane hornless sashes with chamfered brick sills. On the northern gable end, there is a 20th-century wooden door with a sidelight to its left. The southern end of the building adjoins number 7 Castle Street. The interior has not been seen.
