Description
4 Well Street is a two-storey building featuring a two-window range with classical details. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with purple headers and has a slate roof that is concealed behind parapets. The building has brick end stacks and a rendered plinth. The upper floor includes 12-pane horned sash windows set under stone lintels. A substantial modillion cornice runs along the parapets, supported by four exaggerated decorated consoles.
The ground floor has a shop front that spans the entire width of the building, featuring a similar cornice with a billeted frieze. This is supported by six plain pilasters, which also have exaggerated consoles adorned with sinuous plant designs. There is a deep fascia with wreath motifs. To the right, there is an entrance to a flat, which has a half-glazed panelled door with a plain overlight. The shop entrance is located to the left of centre and features a glazed door under a tall plain overlight, flanked by plain-glazed shop windows—one on the left and two on the right. The rear of the building is not visible but is adjacent to a large modernised block, as seen from the neighboring property. The interior of the shop has been modernised.
