Description

This building is a two-storey structure located on a corner site, featuring a narrow two-window front facing St Peter's Square and a longer front along Market Street, with a slightly advanced central gabled bay. The exterior is roughcast on a plinth and topped with a slate roof. The corner has a hipped and swept roof with a modillion eaves cornice.

The St Peter's Square front has two-light small-pane wooden casements on the upper storey. The ground floor includes a short lean-to over a projecting shop front, which is characterized by substantial panelled pilasters, each with a roundel, framing a half-glazed panelled door with a plain boarded overlight, and a three-light transomed wooden window to the right, all beneath a plain cornice. The left-hand return features a two-light shop window flanked by pilasters.

The Market Street elevation has no openings on the right-hand bay, but the modillion eaves cornice continues. The slightly advanced gabled bay is asymmetrical, showcasing a four-over-eight-pane hornless sash window in a moulded surround on the upper storey. The shop front below mirrors the pilasters seen on the St Peter's Square side, supporting a dentilled cornice, with a similar half-glazed panelled door to the left and a three-light window to the right. The left-hand bay has a lower ridge and features a similar four-over-eight-pane sash on the upper storey. The shop window, offset to the far left, is a three-light design, with pilasters supporting a dentilled cornice.

There is a former outbuilding, which has been modernized, adjoining to the left, but it is not included in this listing. The rear of the building has not been seen but is reported to have a lean-to extension behind the left-hand bay. The interior has not been observed.
