Description

This is a mid-19th century building on Church Street, part of a group with numbers 2 to 4 and also forming part of groups on Castle Street and High Street at the central junction of Christchurch. The building is constructed of red brick, with a painted brick rounded corner marking the junction of Church Street and Castle Street. It has wide, bracketed eaves that curve around the corner and a hipped slate roof with a gable in the centre. The building has two storeys and a single attic window in the gable.

The front features two windows with sash glazing and stuccoed lintels, featuring keystones from the late 19th century. The ground floor has a well-preserved shop front. A corner entrance has a round arch and a fanlight with decorative iron spandrels; this entrance utilizes three arched lights, with cast iron pillars and panelled side pilasters. A fascia board now covers the original cornice. The Castle Street facade mirrors the Church Street facade with a three-light window and an eastern carriageway entrance displaying a dentil cornice.
