Description
No. 76 High Street is an early 19th-century corner building. It features painted brickwork, an eaves cornice, and a modern tiled hipped roof. The building stands three storeys high, with one window facing High Street, three windows on Castle Street, and a blank space above the entrance door to Ye Olde George Inne, which is part of this building. The windows are sashes with segmental arches and glazing bars, while the first floor on High Street has an angular bay with unbarred sashes. The ground floor has a modern shop front. No. 76 is also an important part of a focal group at the intersection of the town's main streets, alongside Ye Olde George Inne, No. 1 Church Street, and No. 67 High Street, which is of local interest.
