Description
No. 7 Castle Street is an earlier 18th-century building constructed of painted brick, featuring brick eaves and a band at the first floor. It has a tiled mansard roof with coped gabled ends and kneelers. The building stands 2½ storeys tall and includes two dormers. The façade has four sash windows with boxed frames and glazing bars. The ground floor displays mock timber framing and an advanced shop front beneath a tiled roof.
This building is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 11 (odd), the Castle, the signboard of the King's Arms Hotel, the Constable's House, and the Town Bridge, as well as Nos 4 to 6 (even), 6A, 8 to 12 (even), 12A, 14 to 18 (even), and the King's Arms Hotel opposite Nos 10, 12, and 12A, which together form a significant group on Millham Street. Nos 8 and 10 are also recognized as buildings of local interest.
