Description
1 Upper Clwyd Street is a two-storey house with attics on the right and a shop on the left, built to follow the slope of the ground. The front of the building is rendered and lined over a plinth, topped with a slate roof and featuring brick stacks at the right end and left of center.
The house has a round-arched doorway on the right, which contains a half-glazed panelled door beneath an overlight with stained glass and quarries. To the left of the doorway is a large plain-glazed window. On the first floor, there is a horned four-pane sash window, and to the right of this, set lower, is a small round-arched horned sash window, possibly a stairlight. The attic storey features a pair of narrow horned sashes just below the eaves, along with another small round-arched sash window on the right.
The shop front has plain pilasters with capitals that bear shields displaying the date 1900. These support a dentilled cornice over a fascia. The shop has a panelled stall board and retains its original glazing, featuring two large lights with moulded mullions. To the left, there is a splayed entrance with a mainly glazed panelled door that includes some small-pane glazing and a plain overlight. Above the shop front is a four-pane horned sash window. There is also a gabled attic dormer on the left, which contains a two-light casement window. The adjoining properties on the left and right are not visible from the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
