Description
4A Upper Clwyd Street is a building from the 19th century that forms a group with No 4, located to its left. It features a three-window range and is one-and-a-half storeys tall, with a projecting cross-wing on the left that has a half-hipped roof and a basement storey. The structure is made of red brick and topped with a slate roof, which has a brick stack on the right and a ridge stack on the left at the junction with the cross-wing.
There is a terraced walkway leading to the entrances, with the lower part made of rubble stone and the upper part rebuilt in late 20th century blockwork. The main range of No 4A has three gabled half-dormers on the upper storey, featuring wooden cross-windows with quarry glazing. On the ground floor, there is a similar three-light window on the left, set under a tall cambered brick head. To the right, there is a late 20th century shop front with a glazed door on the far right and a large projecting shop window that has three lights over wooden boarding, all beneath a flat roof. The basement on the left has a rectangular opening for a shop, which is cut into the terrace retaining wall, featuring an inset splayed entrance with a half-glazed boarded door flanked by plain-glazed windows. The interior has not been seen.
