Description

Tom Parry & Co comprises three adjoining properties at 4, 4a and 5 Lombard Street, listed as a group.

The main building is a two-and-a-half-storey double-fronted house (No 4) and shop (No 5) with a scribed roughcast front painted cream and a slate roof. No 4 has rendered end stacks, while No 5 has a stone stack on the right side.

No 4 is fronted by a half-glazed door incorporating coloured glazing and the figure of a sailing ship, set beneath an overlight and flanked by canted bay windows. The left-hand bay has a 4-pane sash window; the right-hand bay contains a replacement window which now forms part of the adjoining shop. The upper storey has 4-pane sash windows. Cast iron forecourt railings on a dressed slate plinth front the house, with a terminal pebble-dashed pier on the left side. On the right, the railings return against the corner of the shop window.

The left gable end is pebble-dashed, with a 2-pane sash window lighting the stair and a small attic window to the right. A lower two-storey rear wing (No 4a) has a central door flanked by 4-pane sash windows, with replacement top-hung casements in the upper storey.

No 5 has a shop front featuring large single-pane bay windows with original mullions and thin transoms in the returns, positioned between recessed replacement half-glazed doors. Above the shop front is an awning and fascia with modern lettering, and a cornice incorporating a moulded billet frieze. The upper storey contains a canted oriel window with a 4-pane sash, and two gabled dormers with 4-pane sash windows and slate-hung sides.

The rear of No 5 has a 4-pane sash window under a gable in the upper storey, to the left of which is an added lower two-storey wing with a stack.
