Description

Globe House is a two-storey building with an attic, featuring a rendered front and a slate roof, along with two large brick chimneys at the rear. It has two gabled dormers topped with pinnacles and small pane glazing. The central entrance is a two-storey gabled porch with a pinnacle and a small pane casement window. To the left of the porch is a broad tripartite small pane casement window, while to the right is a large window with casement glazing in large panes, which appears in photographs from around 1900.

On the ground floor, to the left of the porch, there is a late 19th-century shopfront that includes an entrance doorway with part-glazing and a rectangular overlight, along with a shop window to the left. This shopfront features classically derived end pilasters that support volutes with a fascia-board in between. To the right, there is a second shopfront that aligns with the front face of the porch and extends further right. This shopfront has a central entrance doorway (part-glazed) with a rectangular overlight and shop windows on either side, also supported by classically derived end pilasters with brackets and a fascia-board above the windows.

The shop windows retain their original interior fittings, including small-pane sliding windows at the rear. To the right of the shopfronts, the upper floor extends over a broad passageway leading to the rear yard, where the timber-framed walls of the passage are visible, along with exposed stop-chamfered beams. At the rear, there is a two-storey range built in Llanfyllin red brick that runs at right angles to the main building.
