Description
The Eagle Cafe is a three-storey building with a four-window front, constructed of painted brick and topped with a slate roof and rectangular brick chimneys. The second floor features four windows, which are nine-pane hornless sashes, with the right window slightly offset. The first floor has four taller windows, which are twelve-pane hornless sashes, also with the right window offset. On the ground floor, there is an entrance doorway located beneath a flat-roofed open porch supported by wooden posts, with a twelve-pane hornless sash window on each side of the doorway. To the left, there is a further square-headed doorway that does not appear in early 20th-century photographs, and to the right, there is a broad segmentally-headed doorway leading to a passageway that has exposed timber-framing on the sides and rear. Inside the cafe, among the applied timber framing, there is a longitudinal beam inscribed with 'E:V' and '1657'.
