Description
The Cottage is a three-unit, single-storey house with a lobby entry, built with a later attic storey and an extended range at the rear. It features a timber frame set on a rendered plinth, with the framing well preserved, consisting of square panelling that is three panels high and fifteen panels wide, infilled with plaster. The roof is hipped and bell-cast, covered in slate, with wide boarded eaves. A red brick chimney stack is located opposite the entrance, slightly to the right of centre. The house has two gabled attic dormers that cut through the eaves, which also have wide boarded eaves and projecting verges.
The front elevation includes a small 20th-century timber porch with a half-lit door, along with three modern three-light casement windows featuring diamond quarries. The dormers are fitted with two-light casements in a similar style. The west end of the house displays three rows and five columns of square panels, with the lower panels being brick nogged and no openings present. The east end is six panels wide and may have previously contained a window, with a small light towards the top.
The long, single-storey rear range extends northwards from the main structure and is built of brick and masonry under a slate roof, featuring roof lights. There are no openings in the gable end, but modern openings exist elsewhere, including a doorway on the east side of the range. The rear of the main range has a single light window towards the west and a three-light casement towards the east, both styled like those on the front. Between the west window and the rear range is a brick extension with a catslide roof that also contains roof lights. Some of the panels at the rear are brick nogged.
Access to the interior was not available at the time of inspection.
