Description
Trefenty is a substantial 3-storey house from the 18th century, featuring two parallel ranges with three windows each. The exterior is finished in unpainted roughcast, with painted timber sash windows and slated roofs.
The east facade has 6-pane sash windows in the attic and 12-pane sash windows below, all with stone sills. There is an original timber door on the right bay, partially obscured by a projecting single-storey addition that has a long shallow outshut roof over a 20th-century door and window. The facade also includes painted bracketed eaves, along with cast-iron gutters and a downpipe. A tall red brick chimney stack is located on the roof of the extension to the north.
The west facade mirrors the east, with 6-pane sashes in the upper storey and 12-pane sashes below. It features a central gabled porch made of roughcast with a slated roof, a small window on the porch's west gable, and a door on the north side. The eaves and guttering are similar to those on the east facade.
On the south side, there are two plain, matching gables separated by a narrow channel that contains a pitched slated roof, which ends above a 12-pane sash window situated between the gables. Two central chimney stacks are visible in the valley: one is a tall red brick stack on the rear wall of the east front, while the other is a shorter rendered stack on the rear of the west range. The ground floor on the south side is obscured by a full-length lean-to with a slated roof, slightly raised above a late 20th-century door that is slightly off-centre to the right. There are two shallow 20th-century windows to the left and another 20th-century window to the right, along with a half-glazed 20th-century door on the east end wall.
The north side features two similar plain gables that are joined at the attic level, with a central 8-pane window in the attic. The chimney gables are visible in the valley and are conjoined. A valley dormer on the right has a boarded timber door for roof access. There is also a full-length lean-to similar to the one on the south side, but its roof is higher, obscuring the first floor. This side has 20th-century windows and an additional lean-to with a corrugated roof.
The property is not available for inspection and is reported to have been internally divided into two living units.
