Description
Bridge 145 over the Montgomeryshire Canal is a cast iron ‘fish-bellied’ beam bridge. It features five original beams that support a replacement deck made of concrete with a plywood soffit. The parapets are made up of timber posts located at the ends and in the center, along with three rows of iron rails that extend to the west and are splayed. The iron beams rest on sandstone padstones, which have likely been rebuilt, situated on brick abutments. These abutments are topped with chamfered blue brick copings and are splayed to the east, where the towpath is found. To the west, the abutments are straight and have curved buttresses that extend outwards and end with piers.
