Description

Ffynogion is a large two-storey building consisting of three units, rendered and topped with a slate roof, set on a plinth. It features a star-shaped ridge stack with a corbelled cap to the right of the center and a tall square lateral stack at the rear left. The entrance is slightly offset to the left of center and includes a gabled porch with a rectangular opening. Inside the porch is a half-glazed panelled door with wooden lattice glazing. There are three irregularly spaced windows, which are three-light casements with wooden lattice glazing that have been recently restored.

The south gable end was previously jettied; the ground floor is now roughcast and includes inset uPVC French doors, while the upper floor is rendered and features a three-light window. The north gable end is also rendered and has uPVC French doors along with two contemporary windows on the upper storey. At the rear, there are uPVC windows to the left of the rear wing, along with a small lean-to structure in the angle and a large lateral stone stack to the right of the rear wing. The rear wing is two-storey, rendered over brick, and has an external end stack. The north side of the rear wing has three windows with uPVC glazing. A catslide lean-to is present on the south side, featuring a boarded door to the left and single and three-light uPVC windows to the right. There is a blind gabled dormer facing the lateral stack, likely intended for a stairlight. The west end of the catslide has a mid-20th century metal window, and a mid-20th century flat-roofed block is attached to the southwest angle of the rear wing.

The interior has been partly observed. The hall boasts a fine plastered ceiling with a moulded cross-beam that has ogee stops. An open-well staircase, which has not been seen, is reported to have slender turned balusters, square newels, and a moulded handrail. The rear kitchen wing features a fine 17th-century ceiling with stop-chamfered beams and joists that have lambs-tongue stops.
