Description
Pentre Gwyddel is a two-storey building with a three-unit lobby entry plan and a single-storey wing at the rear. It features a small gabled porch added to the front and a later single-storey extension on the right gable end. The structure is built of rubble masonry, roughcast rendered, and sits on boulder foundations. It has a modern slate roof with projecting, wood-bracketed eaves and stone copings, along with a massive central ridge stack.
The entrance elevation is asymmetrically arranged, with the doorway offset to the left and a 1-2 window plan featuring varied fenestration. The windows are slightly recessed and have slate sills. To the left of the door is a lower storey mullioned window, with the central light being a 6-pane sliding sash. A similarly detailed window is located at the far right, also with a 6-pane sliding sash set under the eaves above. The other windows are 4-pane sliding sashes of varying sizes.
Inside, the building has a baffle-entry plan with a massive central chimney. There is an inglenook fireplace in the right-hand room, with a cupboard to the right side of the fireplace upstairs, and a modern fireplace has been inserted in the left-hand room. Although the building has been re-roofed in recent years, it retains a single pegged and collared truss at the left end.
