Description
Ystumcegid is a two-storey, 'T'-shaped building constructed of stone rubble with a rendered front elevation and slate roofs. It features a three-bay front facing southwest and a rear wing on the north side, along with a tall gable end stack. A gabled porch was added around 1993, which includes a boarded door. The building has four-paned timber sash windows on both main storeys, with the centre bay featuring a gable that contains a smaller four-pane window for the attic. The rear wing includes an external gable stack, a lean-to on the southeast, and an added porch in the northern re-entrant angle. The gable ends are rendered.
Inside, the building retains the character of its early 20th-century modernization. There is a central stair hall with panelled doors leading to reception rooms on either side. The rear wing has rough stop-chamfered beams, and the main stair features a re-used moulded 17th-century rail. The roof truss, which was not visible during the inspection, is thought to have collar beams and purlins on cleats, possibly made from re-used materials.
